The hyperbola:         x2/900 - y2/225 = 1

FOR:   -85 ≤ x ≤ -30   or   30 ≤ x ≤ 85

is within a few inches of the correct hyperbola for the Science Center. You may use this equation in the problems of these pages if your teacher wishes.

Make four functions from this equation that you may use in a calculator or computer program.














For advanced students, graph this and the correct equation on the same graph to show your class how close the two curves come together.
