PE HANDOUT FOR THE CASCADE PATTERN
Practice this exercise for five to ten minutes: Toss a bag from one hand to the other and back several times. As you toss, look at the path it takes. Put your hands out in front of you a little more than usual to see all the action. Keep your eyes on the bag as it reaches the peak in the toss. Again, toss a bag from one hand to the other and back several times. Keep tossing the bag from about waist height to head height. As you improve aim each toss to peak or reach the vertex off the opposite ear for example: right hand left ear. Don't worry if you drop the bag but just don't stop on a drop.
Practice with two bags for five to ten minutes: As before: Hands out. Eyes on the peaks. Hold one bag in each hand, throw the right-hand bag in an arc toward your left hand. As it peaks, throw the second bag from your left hand in an arc underneath it toward the right hand. Catch the first bag in your left hand and the second in your right. Reverse the starting direction every other time. Try to find and use a rhythm: TOSS - TOSS.
A JUG is the first three bags tossed in the cascade pattern. We work for a JUG saying out loud toss - toss - toss and tossing when the last bag peaks.
No Catch Jug Instructions. Hold two bags in your right hand and one in your left. Throw the first bag in your right hand toward your left one. As it peaks, throw the bag in the left hand toward the right. As the second bag peaks, throw the final bag from your right hand. Remember the “JUG” TOSS TOSS TOSS RHYTHM. Catch none of the bags. Try this several times then move on to the next task.
Catch Jug Instructions. Catch each as the bag falls to your hand height. Try not to reach up to catch and end up throwing the last tossed bag outward.
When you catch all three and feel what that is like - do the last instructions several times and go for the feeling rather than what you see or what you think. If you get stuck on not catching the first three after four or five dozen tries - relax - try again tomorrow.
Once you catch the first three several times you are ready to continue by just emptying the next hand and keep the pattern going. Have lots of fun! !!!!!! KEEP THEM UP!!!!!!!
