TIDAL WAVE MATH
The "boat" in the Tidal Wave can be viewed as a "battery" that
stores mechanical energy:
At the top the energy available due to gravity is called
Potential Energy "PE"
When the boat falls down the slope, its PE is translated into
Kinetic Energy - the energy stored as a Mass in motion:
Does KE = PE? Why?
When the boat strikes the water, its KE is transferred to the
water, which flys into the air as a splash.
This map will take a few minutes to show up. Use the map to write equations
that represent the map lines and curves for the Tidal Wave and the area
around it. Use interval notation to tell what segment of an equation is used.
Some math class have determined many of the equations for various rides
and buildings.
